Solitary Walker

"The man who goes alone can start today;
but he who travels with another
must wait till
that other is ready".
Henry David Thoreau

Given the choice between sleeping in or getting up for an early morning walk,
the hubby will always choose sleeping in,
which makes me... someone who likes to just "get up and go"
...a "solitary walker."
We spent part of the Labor Day weekend in Bridgewater on the south shore,
and while hubby snoozed,
I walked the Centennial Trail along
the
LaHave River.

On the way home we stopped at our daughter's to
pick blueberries before they are over for the season.
With eighteen high bush shrubs,
she has plenty to fill her freezer and to share
with us, her in-laws
and some neighbors.

"Blueberries as big as the end of your thumb,
Real sky-blue, and heavy, and ready to drum
In the cavernous pail of the first one to come!"

Robert Frost

Happy walking,

Riding The Rails...Sort Of

Sunday was a beautiful day to load up the bikes and head for the trails,
an old abandoned railway that's been transformed
into part of the trans Canada
trail system.

The section we rode was along the Cornwallis River.
"The Cornwallis River Greenway"

The biking was easy going with
no traffic to contend with
...only the occasional
walker/runner or biker.

We biked through the protected migratory bird sanctuary...but

only saw one bird. I'm guessing it must be a rare dodo bird!

Happy walking,
Marisa
